The brief
Shopify's docs are huge, and the answer to a question like how to bundle two products with a cart transform Function is spread across many pages. DevBuddy is a chat on top of Shopify's own dev docs assistant: ask in plain English, get an answer with the exact doc pages it came from.
The build
Answers stream in word by word through a Next.js API route. Every reply links the shopify.dev pages it used, code blocks are highlighted, and a thread can be shared with a public link that gets its own auto generated social card. Threads are stored in Supabase, and Upstash rate limiting plus bot protection keep the public endpoint safe.
The result
It lives inside this portfolio at /devbuddy and I use it daily while building themes, Functions and apps. It is unofficial and powered by shopify.dev.
